6% of fatal Injuries to construction workers in the UK, in 2021/2022, were from electrical components(Stored Energy.)
It's estimated that there are approximately 150 instances of pressure vessel failures causing 6 deaths or serious injuries per year in the UK.
The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness and reduce the risk of incidents related to stored energy in Thames.
Stored Energy hazards are often and easily overlooked. Energy is "stored"/hidden until released when the system fails, often catastrophically.
This campaign is setup to initially target and in collaboration withour framework contractors but cognisant the campaign could be extended to other areas of AOCD.
We want to; raise awareness and understanding of the hazard/risks, improve safety culture and compliance, reduce incidents, gain greater awareness, improve guidance and assurance and finally, share our best practices and learning.
